The Dream Starts Young

Landen and Alex were two 14-year-old best friends from Shreveport, Louisiana. They loved spending time outdoors and were always looking for ways to earn money. One hot summer afternoon, while mowing Landon's grandmother's lawn, they came up with an idea.

"What if we started our own yard service?" Alex asked.

Landen smiled. "We could mow lawns, trim bushes, rake leaves, and help people keep their yards looking nice."

The next day, they wrote down a plan. They decided to call their business Landen & Alex Yard Services. Since they were only 14 years old, they talked to their parents first. Their parents agreed to help them get started as long as they stayed safe, worked hard, and kept up with school.

The boys spent the next week making simple flyers and knocking on doors around their neighborhood. Most people smiled and wished them luck. A few even hired them to mow their lawns.

Their first job paid $40. Instead of spending the money on video games or snacks, they saved it. Every dollar they earned went toward buying better equipment. Soon they had enough money for a weed trimmer, a leaf blower, and stronger lawn tools.

As word spread, more neighbors called them. They always arrived on time, worked carefully, and treated every yard like it was their own. Customers appreciated their honesty and hard work. Before long, they had regular weekly customers.

Running a business wasn't always easy. Some days it rained, equipment broke, or the Louisiana heat made the work exhausting. But Landen and Alex never gave up. They learned that success doesn't happen overnight—it comes from showing up, solving problems, and working together.

By the end of the summer, they had earned enough money to save for the future while learning valuable lessons about responsibility, teamwork, and customer service. Their dream of owning a business was no longer just an idea—it had become a reality.

Landen and Alex realized that age didn't determine success. Determination, hard work, and believing in yourself could turn a simple dream into something much bigger.

And this was only the beginning of their journey.
